Barack Obama Participates In A Meeting With Youth Leaders in Johannesburg (Video)

Obama-youthThe President of the United States, Barack Obama took questions in a live televised event from Youth at the University of Johannesburg in South Africa this past Saturday. Youth from Kenya were present via live stream and questioned Obamas about his decisions to not visit Kenya. Groups of young leaders in Nigeria and Uganda were also streamed.

He began the discussion with shoutouts to Ghanaian entrepreneur Fred Swaniker of the Africa Leadershio Academy, South African Journalist of the Daily Maverick, Khadija Patel, South African HIV counsellor Jacob Jabari and Lebo Bogapane who built a crisis center for abused women in South Africa.

He announced a new initiative ‘the Washington Fellowship which aims to bring more than 500 young African leaders to the United States each year for leadership training and mentoring. This project aims give the fellows news skills that they can used to ‘propel economic growth and prosperity, and strengthen democratic institutions’.
