KounterKulture will be responsible for marketing the controversial rapper through an ambitious media campaign that will prepare Asem for a worldwide tour.
Asem who is currently in the process of recording his third album ‘Tough Times Don’t Last (TTDL)”, was spotted by KounterKultures president Michael jones while he performed in front of 10, 000 cheering fans. Jones states ‘He’s a rare combination of talent, showmanship and humanitarian commitment. As I listened to the material for his upcoming album, it hit me— Asem has the makings of a superstar.’
Of the new partnership, an excited Asem says “I’m amped up about working with KounterKulture….They’re visionaries passionate about music and the artists they represent. I can’t wait to turn up the scene.”
In 2008, Asem, shot to stardom when he released his ode ‘Give Me Blow’ which made history as Ghana’s most downloaded track before its release. He then went on to win the Discovery of the Year award in 2009, World Bank’s prestigious Music For Development Award in 2010 and Best West African Music Video at the 2011 Nigeria Music Video Awards for his video for “No More Kpayor”.
