The 13th Hollywood Black Film Festival (HBFF) is introducing a new sidebar ‘Film Diaspora’ to its annual programming. Film Diaspora is an events showcasing 11 films and documentaries from the African diaspora and will take place at the Ricardo Montalban Theatre in Hollywood from Wednesday October 2, 2013 to October 6 . Included in the lineup of 11 films are three African feature films: Flower Girl (Nigeria), Malagasy Mankany (Madagascar) and Ninah’s Dowry (Cameroon); six short films; Midnight Scorpian (Burkina Faso), NHAMO (South Africa), Ogondah (Nigeria), Sunni Man (New Zealand), Touch (London), Unspoken (Nigeria) and two full length documentaries Adopted ID (Haiti) and Sodiq (London).
Filmmaker Andrea Meshel has taken the role as the programmer for this years events and states ‘Film Diaspora is proud to present a vast array of cinematic voices from the African Diaspora’.
HBFF will offer a Diaspora Screening Pass for $50, which allows entry into all of the films playing in the Diaspora Program on Thursday, October 3, 2013. Individual Screening Tickets can also be purchased for $15.
