As part of Afropop’s Hip Deep journey to Ghana, Afropop Worldwide filmed a folkloric group playing the music from the nation’s North, and famed Afro-Funk bandleader Ebo Taylor performing with his extended family music from the southern coast. Both styles are elements in Taylor’s thesis on the roots of funk music in West Africa. The performances also exhibit the depth and variety of Ghana’s still thriving musical culture.
Filmed by Banning Eyre and Sean Barlow. Edited and Produced by Bernhard Fasenfest. Funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities.
