Officially launched earlier this year, MYSISTERMADEIT is a new fashion label that fuses aspects of African culture with contemporary British style.
‘MYSISTERMADEIT‘ offers collections which are rich in colour, fun, elegant, sexy and easy to wear. It merges traditional African fabrics with leather, linen, chiffon and silk to create chic, playful garments with a bold, edgy finish, whilst striking the perfect balance between the African and British culture’.
MYSISTERMADEIT‘s recently unveiled their latest lookbook for ‘Graphica’, (derived from “Graphic” referring to the print and “Africa”). The collection includes an assortment of classic silhouettes (shift dresses, maxi dresses and modern separates). Most of the pieces incorporates a gorgeous Guinea Brocade which reflects and celebrates creative director Frances Ekiko’s cultural heritage and personal style.
She explains, ‘Graphica was about a new vision for MYSISTERMADEIT. I wanted to produce something contemporary yet still have the quirky signature people were used to seeing from me. The motif – a simple repeat pattern of a flower in black surrounded by splashes of colour to bring it to life. A strong, bold print is then softened by the cream based Guinea brocade fabric. Shapes and cuts used in the collection were inspired by my female- all from different walks of life, who’s stories have always inspired her in one way or another. Graphica is for the everyday woman. It is a playful, sexy collection to inspire confidence in individuality. ‘
