Described as a harmonious marriage between chic Melbourne silhouettes and modern African aesthetics, Collective Closet is a newly launched Ethical Australian fashion label from Kenyan-born sisters Laurinda and Fatuma.
The debut Collection titled Kabila (meaning tribe in Swahili) sets the tone for what we can expect from the label in future. Elements of Tribal weaving, batik prints, and the bold earthy tones synonymous to Africa are all present in the new collection.
The Kabila Collection is suited for ‘the woman who wants to be herself, who is subconsciously aware of the trends but is not dictated by them. The collection allows for personal interpretation, where the individual is at the center, and the clothing remains secondary, compliments the mood, lifestyle of the individual.’
Collective Closets is a socially conscious brand that works alongside the ANPPCAN (The African Network for the Prevention and Protection against Child Abuse and Neglect), to bring attention the the child trafficking problems in Kenya.
