The 8th Annual Africa in Motion (AiM) Film Festival has been set to take place from October 24 to November 3 this year in Glasgow and Edinburgh.

Founded in 2006 by South African research Lizelle Bisschoff, AiM aims to offer Scottish audiences a taste of African cinema by hosting a series films during the 11-day event.

This year takes it theme from the swahili word ‘Twende’ which means ‘Lets go’ and will feature a diverse ‘diverse programme of documentary and fictional films will capture Africa’s richness and beauty through movement, literal and metaphorical, from the movement of people across regions and borders with films about immigration and asylum, through political, cultural and social movements, to movement in its more literal form with films about sport, dance and street life in African cities.’

The film programme will also be accompanied by a wide range of events such as directors’ Q&As and masterclasses, workshops, music performances and a visual art exhibition.

The venues will be Filmhouse Cinema in Edinburgh and the Glasgow Film Theatre and the Centre for Contemporary Arts in Glasgow. This years event will also play host to ‘Pop-up’ cinema venues around Glasgow and Edinburgh.
