AOMS‘Africa On My Sleeve (AOMS)’, an Australasian-based African inspired fashion show, is now accepting designer registrations for its 2014 Showcase.

Following the success of its debut show last year, the project (the first of it kind in New Zealand), provides a platform for new and establish designers to elevate and promote their brands.

Makanaka Tuwe, founder of the AOMS project states, “The scope and vision of the organisation has grown exponentially taking into consideration the needs of designers as well as the transforming socioeconomic climate within the fashion industry. The times are changing and after the first show we saw it fit to continue to evolve and redefine ourselves. Onwards and upwards!”

This year, AOMS is introducing two key initiatives; the first being the annual fashion show that will allow designers to ‘showcase and promote themselves on a credible platform’ and the second will give interested buyers the opportunity to purchase the items featured on the runway at the AOMS online store. Items for sale will be collaboratively owned by Africa on My Sleeve and the designer. The online store will facilitate in helping to grow the businesses and brands of participating designers.

Designers inspired by Africa are encouraged to register. Although the project caters to designers in Australia and New Zealand, designers based outside of Australasia are welcome to enter. Registrations will close on 28 January.
