After more than 30 applications were received, only seven business models were selected to continue on to battle for the final round of the Ghana StartUp Cup. The top 7 finalists are: Onecedi.com, Guardian Angels, Genesis Financial Services, Visser Farms, Mansuki Ghana Ltd, Mobilicious and Bravehearts Expedition.
The finalists will be expected to present a 2 minute pitch in front of a panel of judges on November 9, 2013. Prior to their final presentations, all candidates will received specialized training and coaching.
“All of the entrepreneurs in the First Presentation Round inspired us with their passion for their business, and their interest and responsiveness to our judging panel. Even though only 7 could advance to the Finals, they are all winners and will no doubt make valuable contributions to our community,” said Marina Langereis, a judge on the panel.
The StartUp Cup was founded back in 1992 by a group of successful entrepreneurs and corporate executives in Silicon Valley and has since branched off to over 17 countries. The Ghana StartUp Cup launched back in May this year by Chairman Emmanuel Nyame and is the first competition of its kind to take place in Ghana. The StartUp Cup brings together community service providers, investors, and mentors in an effort to accelerate the growth of viable companies.
