This week marks the 50th anniversary of one of the world’s most famous Java prints; Angelina. You may not know the name but I’m pretty sure that you are familiar with the design who’s popularity surged during the 60’s hippie era.
Angelina (often referred to as ‘Addis Ababa’ or ‘Miriam Makeba’), was created some 50 years ago by Vlisco textile designer Toon van de Manakker. He used inspiration from the 19th century Ethiopian noblewomen’s tunic to create his iconic piece.
Vlisco have relaunched a new ‘Special Limited Edition’ range marking the this momentous occasion.
