IBM opens its first African Technology Research Facility in Kenya (BBC Video)

ibm-whiffs-1US technology and consulting giant, IBM opened its first Africa-based research laboratory in the Kenyan capital of Nairobi yesterday, making it IBM’s 12th global technology research facility.

The President of Kenya, Hon. Uhuru Kenyatta, stated ‘My government is proud that Kenya, and Africa will benefit from the presence of one of the most advanced research facilities, with some of the world’s most talented people, using some of the most powerful technologies to develop solutions in Africa for Africa.’

In the BBC segment, Anne Soy met with the labs innovators to find out more ‘about the applications being worked on – and what research centres such as this can bring to the region’.
