Idris Elba to Star in Movie Adaptaion of Uzodinma Iweala’s Novel ‘Beast of No Nation’

Idris Elba has been keeping himself busy lately. He will be starring in and producing the movie adaptation of Uzodinma Iweala’s 2005 bestselling novel, ‘Beast of No Nation’. The movie will be directed by Cary Fukunaga of ‘Jane Eyre’ and ‘Sin Nombre’ fame. Fukunaga has been busy developing the story since 2007 and hopes to begin shooting in March 2014.

‘Beast of No Nation’ is a harrowing tale of Agu, a young orphaned boy forced to become a child soldier after the civil war engulfs his (West African) country. Elba will play the military commander who recruits Agu into his army.


Author Uzodinma Iweala, is the son of  Nigeria’s Finance Minister Ngozi Okonjo Iweala and a Harvard University graduate, who lives between New York and Lagos.
