The self-taught designer will be showcasing her new Spring/Summer 2014 collections and is very excited about her involvement stating ‘New York City is the fashion hub of the world. I’m honored and excited to be showcasing my collection at Nolcha Fashion Week. It is a unique platform that allows designers, like myself, to showcase my creativity on an international platform.’

Initially Maita planned on becoming an interior designer but after some encouragement from her sister, she entered a local fashion design competition and came first place. She went on to study for a degree at the School of The Art Institute of Chicago and after completion returned to Zimbabwe to set up her label were she launched her label in 2009.

Her latest Spring Summer collection 2014 takes inspiration ‘from the central themes of femininity and glamour’ and uses hints of her Shona heritage ‘in her designs to create a unique yet modern and edgy style’.
