About Book Dash
Book Dash is a newly formed initiative that brings some of South Africa’s best writers, illustrators and designers to help combat the country’s early-childhood literacy crisis.

“We believe every child should own a hundred books by the age of five,” says Book Dash founder Arthur Attwell. “In South Africa, that means giving 600 million free books to children who could never afford to buy them. Every day we lose, more children grow up unable to read and write well.”

With the steep cost of books, it’s a lot harder to make books accessible for everyone. By eliminating publishing cost and paying only for printing, the volunteer-based creates beautiful children’s books that are freely available print and distribute.
