Belinda KazeemBelinda Kazeem is an Austrian cultural theorist who’s work (through the use of photography) focuses on ‘the past, present and future of decolonialization’. Her work is documented in the most recent episode of WEY DEY, a new web series created by art collective Mesquita Boafo. Check out the episode below:

‘WE DEY is an online platform for contemporary arts. WE DEY means “we are” in pidgin – an appropriation of the colonial language english which is spoken in former British colonies such as Ghana, Nigeria and by the West African diaspora both on the continent and living abroad. ‘

The We Dey series focuses on the work of artists living in Austria and Abroad. Sunanda Mesquita and Amoako Boafo (Mesquita Boafo) plan to use the platform to facilitate networking and exchange with fellow artists. The project was initiated in 2014 with funding from the kültüř gemma! scholarship

WE DEY seeks to support the struggle of artists for recognition, free of labels which are often used to justify exclusion from the main contemporary art discourse.
