For Ng’endo Mukii’s latest thought-provoking film ‘Yellow Fever’, she wanted to explore the ‘concept of skin and race, and what they imply’ and how societies perceptions of what is considered the ideal image of beauty have become ingrained in us.
‘Yellow Fever’ is a beautifully animated mixed media montage of memories and interviews that resonates with many women of color-the distorted self image of beauty that has become globalized ‘creating homogenous aspirations’.
Award-winning Kenyan filmmaker Ng’endo Mukii is a graduate of the Royal College of Art in London.
