ZUVAA, a new community for African Fashion

May 2, 2014 • ArticlesNo Comments

zuvaaFounded in 2013 by US-based entrepreneur Kelechi Anyadiegwu, ZUVAA is a new online store that showcases African inspired fashion from all over the world.

Zuva comes from the Shona language of Zimbabwe and means ‘sunshine.’ ‘Zuva’ represents the vibrant and positive spirit of the continent of Africa and how you let your personal light shine through confidence and style.

The store’s official launch was earlier today, and before thinking it’s just another store promoting African-inspired fashion, Zuvaa is very community based. There are various features like ‘#AfroFash of the Month'; a forum; a section for fashionistas to submit photos sporting their African-Inspired looks and a Zuvaa Ambassadors program for fashion bloggers wishing to partner with Zuvaa in return for free products. Zuvaa Back in January, Ms Anyadiegwu stated on her personal blog, African Fashion represents African people, it’s BOLD, Vibrant, and Fierce. I truly believe fashion can be a vehicle to negate negative stereotypes about Africa, but people need to better understand what African fashion is and what it is not. That is what we strive to do a Zuvaa.
