GLSWhen you think of popular African languages, the first thing that probably comes to mind is Swahili, Afrikaans, Igbo, Hausa and Yoruba. Some traditional language that aren”t that well publicized are Akan and Ga. Akan is a language that is spoken in Southern Ghana. Around 58% of Ghanaians and 30% of Ivorians speak it whereas Ga is most commonly spoken in south-eastern Ghana.

One school that is putting both languages (and many more dialects) on the map, is the Ghanaian Language School (GLS) in the UK. Founders Naomi and Benjamin Fletcher, set up GLS in 2009 as an outlet for students to preserve their heritage and embrace their culture.
