African Fashion Week Atlanta (AFW Atlanta) is a unique and innovative event focused on bringing investors into the African fashion industry and promoting African culture. AFW Atlanta aims enhance the African textile and clothing industries by providing a platform for established and emerging designers to showcase their talents to a broad audience.
The 3-day events will allow designers to take advantage of global opportunities and gain international exposure while growing their product value.
The event is scheduled for August 15-17, 2013. and will be held at the High Museum of Art.
Summary of Event Schedule
August 15, 2013: Aspiring Designers Expo and Fashion Show (5pm to 9pm)
August 16, 2013: Cocktail and Couture Designer Screening/Media Mixer 8pm to 10pm)
August 17, 2013: Featured Designers (Runway shows)
Designers showcasing at the runway includes: Sierra Leoneans Sidratu Maju of H7even Designs and Joseph Hinton of Joe’s Custom Clothier, Ghanaian Ophelia Yankson of Pages Couture and Congolese Mamie Kapend of YaSika Mode.
Model Jenn Okafor will be spokeswoman for the events.
