Very few artists are not afraid to display their African pride especially when creating music for a western audience and this is why Ghanaian-born Selasi Duse AKA The African Kid is able to win many fans both in the US and internationally.
You may have seen Selasi featured on several episodes of the Real Housewives of Atlanta, but as well as being an renowned producer for some of the best artists out there(Jagged Edge, Nas and Idris Elba to name a few), he is also an established artist with 2 albums under his belt.
His latest album ‘Shades of Grey’ was released late last year to some rave review.
‘Ups and Downs’ is the second track on the ‘Shades of Grey’ Album. This bi-lingual track features lyrics in both English and Twi. The video accompanying the song tells a story about a couple who seem to be having some trust issues. Selasi’s character is pleading with his girlfriend to ‘Tie Masem’ (translation: listen to what I have to say) and ‘Ényé sé mempé w’a sém oh’ (translation: its not that I don’t love you).
What do you think of the new video?
