Ghanaian-born Atlanta-based artist/producer/songwriter Selasi Duse has been nominated for the Best Upcoming artist award by the African Awards USA.
‘The Kandi Factory’ regular has had a rather eventful year following the release of his latest album ‘Shades Of Grey’. Selasi’s album which has garnered an abundance of praise and attention from several media outlets, was praised by MTV Iggy for his ability to merge three genre’s ‘hiplife, pop and reggae’ seamlessly.
On learning of his nomination, Selasi stated that “being nominated for Best Upcoming Artist is an acknowledgement that my music, my art is appreciated. The recognition is an affirmation that there is a place in the U.S. and Globally for African artist to shine….When I think of my journey and all the ‘ups & downs’ of it, I’m humbled by this honor and will continue to do my part to raise the bar sonically for Africa not just as a entertainer or producer, but as an African Man.”
Now in its second year, the African Awards is an annual event that showcases and acknowledges people of African descent that have made ‘positive and selfless contributions to the betterment of Africans in the homeland as well as in the Diaspora’.
