German-Ghanaian Actor Boris Kodjoe and his son Nicholas are featured on one of 4 Ebony magazine covers honoring the life of Trayvon Martin.
Three other covers featured the slain teenager’s Mom Sybrina Fulton and Father Tracy Martin with their son Jahvaris Fulton, Spike Lee and his son Jackson and Dwayne Wade and his sons Zaire and Zion.
The special September issue, which aims to keep conversations alive about race in America, features an exclusive interview with Trayvon Martin’s family and Columbia University professor Marc Lamont Hill, a poem by Jill Scott, a prayer dedication by Bishop T.D. Jakes and commentaries from Lee, Kodjoe and Wade about how they are approaching the topic of racism with their sons.
Ebony has also teamed up with the White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for African-Americans to host a series of town hall meetings across the country elaborating on the state of race in America. The program will commence at Morehouse College and will run from November 2013 to December 2014.
